The Thimphu Festival in Bhutan stands out from others due to its unique two-part structure. The first part, Lhamo Dromche, unfolds over three consecutive nights at 3 AM, featuring rituals in front of the deity Palden Lhamo. Following this, Gongdue Tshechu spans four days, showcasing 25 sacred mask dances and 24 traditional folk songs.
During the four-day Thimphu Festival, which includes a government holiday from the second to the fourth day, families and friends gather to celebrate together. It's a time when people unite to enjoy the festivities, strengthen bonds, and immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage of Bhutan.
